13 Awesome Money Saving Sites

3 pennies earned

Wise Bread, a website that hasn't yet made it to our feed reader, put out a recent article that highlights thirteen of their favorite money-saving websites. Of course we're sad that Shirts on Sale didn't make the list, but we understand that people --silly, silly people-- still see inexpensive boutique t-shirts as a limited-audience sort of pursuit.

We use most of these in our regular deal hunting, but there were a few new sites as well:

There are 3 reasons we really like Retail Me Not: Huge database of online coupon codes and printable in-store coupons; It's like a virtual coupon organizer that's always there when you're shopping; Users vote on the reliability of coupons, so the coupon usually works the first time we try it.

Sure, Fat Wallet's got a huge forum community helping us weed out the bad deals and find the really hidden gems. Yeah, there's a big coupons database too. Those are both awesome parts of Fat Wallet, but what gets us really excited is... cashback shopping!

Forget about manually comparing dozens of confusing plans. Let BillShrink do the work for you and save money within 5 minutes.

eCoupons has a no nonsense website that looks very similar to hundreds of other online coupon resources. But if you look closer, you'll find three hidden gems of the bargain hunting world.

Weird name but incredibly cool concept. Zilok is basically "Craigslist for rentals". You can rent your stuff out or rent someone else's stuff for a day.

Brad's Deals is unique because there's one passionate bargain hunter behind it all -- Brad Wilson.

Sweepstakes Advantage is really the only choice for sweepers looking for a site that is both comprehensive and trustworthy.

One of the easiest way to save money is to setup an automatic transfer from your checking to your savings account at regular intervals (for example, when paychecks are deposited). That way, you're paying yourself before you have a chance to spend all that money in your checking account. You can do that and more with SmartyPig.

Deal Catcher is one of the largest deals websites around. The deals are published by a full-time staff, which ensures that they're of the highest quality.

Current Codes is a no nonsense coupons and discount code database. There's no complex navigation, image-heavy decoration, or any of the other non-essential things that clutter up websites.

Online since 1999, TechBargains has been saving me money on computer components and other electronics since the last decade.

Do you love entering giveaways on blogs? Then Prizey was built just for you.

Prices and Coupons bridges the gap between price comparison and coupon codes.

Why Buy Your Shirts One at a Time?

1 penny earned

Chop Shop wants to make your wardrobe shopping easier by offering up collections of teeshirts so you don't have to buy everything one at a time. Why not save 25% off your tees when you order three theme shirts together? You can choose from either a sci-fi theme or rock music theme and outfit the whole family or band in fell swoop --assuming everyone wears the same size (boy do you have a weird family).

If that's not your style, you can also use the coupon givemeabreak for 15% off anything else in their store, including their deeply-discounted sale t-shirts.

FTM: B/D JUNE T-SHIRT OF THE MONTH (their caps, not ours)

0 pennies earned

One of our beloved former interns, Lyndsey Lesh, recently designed the shirt “Music Mountain” during her stay here at Beautiful/Decay. We were blown away by Lyndsey’s drive & talent and one of her final projects before venturing out into the great, wide, world was to design June’s T-Shirt of the month! (In case you haven’t heard, we are releasing a limited edition, 300 print run T-Shirt in a unique color way each month on the online shop for 33% off retail price- $20 a shirt!)

Lyndsey’s illustration style can best be described as whimsical works that depict a world of idiosyncratic fancy, sweetness and charm. Her images have a soft spoken quality that reflect the hand-rendered application of her materials. Her shirt, “Music Mountain” depicts a sincere DJ atop a landscape of stereo equipment, musical gear and chubby hands holding records, drum sticks and microphones.
Methinks they may have been taken in by the well-placed "Beautiful/Decay"

Teextile Twitter Contest: Win A Free Shirt!

4 pennies earned

Well, this is a little more convoluted and difficult than our usual contests (and this is not our contest, mind you, but Teextiles!), but the payoff is pretty solid for what could be minimal effort.. you just have to be right!

The details are easy enough, but to successfully complete them is another task entirely. Check it out! (edited for clarity here. Click to see the original newspost.)

weve been neglecting our poor little twitter account for more than a month, so we thought we would start it up again with a way for you to get a free shirt or 5.

all you have to do is follow us on twitter: http://twitter.com/teextile

and guess the next five shirts for next week by posting an update on your twitter account starting with @teextile and followed by the 5 names of the designs you think are going to win (number them if youd like)

sure, 140 characters might not be enough, so feel free to abbreviate. if you guess all 5 designs, you get a free shirt of your choice. and if you guess all 5 designs in the correct order, you get all 5 shirts for free.

here a couple of hints
-we always print at least one design that is only one color
-we always print at least one oversized print
-we never print the 5 all-time most popular, but at least one of the top 3 will be printed

One update a week shouldn't break your Twitterbank, so tweet away -- and if you're just hopping on the Twitter bus, be sure to add us at twitter.com/Shirts_on_Sale!

Best of luck with this one, you'll need it.. but at least they gave a few hints!

Are T-shirts the New Tattoos?

0 pennies earned

Tattoos, which have been around since pre-historic man, may have lost some of their "market share" thanks the invention of the much more malleable, extensible and safe t-shirt as self-identifier but that doesn't mean they're getting replaced anytime soon. Roger White argues that commodities are easy to replace but artistry has much more resilience when it comes to weathering change.

And just in case that video was a little too erudite --or slow!-- for you, here's a quick jolt of tee-related humor:

1 Step to Bulk-Add Images to Blogger Posts

0 pennies earned

We've heard the complaint that you can't batch upload photos to Google's Blogger, but nothing could be further from the truth...as long as you're willing to use Firefox. Not only can you bulk-upload many files, you can do it in one easy step every time!

First thing you need to do is get the DragDropUpload add-on. This add-on allows you to "drop files into attachment boxes instead of browse for them or type in the filename. Drop multiple files and fill all the entries."

It's the second part of that explanaition that makes working with Blogger and images easy as pie. Once you install this and restart Firefox you're ready to rumble.

Whenever you want to upload photos, just click the "Add Image" icon in the Blogger editor. While that pop-up is doing its pop-up thing, navigate to the folder where you pictures are and highlight all the images you want to add to your post. Now click and drag those images into the input box next to the "Browse..." button.

That's it! You're on the precipice of achieving image-adder's bliss.

Now when you click the "Upload Image" button Blogger will automagically upload all of the images you highlighted. Don't worry if it doesn't look like they're all there at first, Google just hides the input boxes with your file names initially. If you click the "Add another image" link, you should see that the keeps on going beyond the initial eight displayed.

10% off at EndangeredWear Stimulus Special

0 pennies earned

Even Obama doesn't look too happy about this whole Stimulus thing. Considering today's April 20th and all, we have to consider that his eyes are droopy due to something else completely unrelated to the economy...

Enough about the Big O, let's talk t-shirt sales. EndangeredWear is doing their part to stimulate the economy by offering 10% off their wares when you use the coupon stimulus over the next week or so.

In case you forgot what the story is with these guys, or just can't figure it out from their name, they offer limited print-run shirts that are each individually numbered, making them "specialer" than almost any other tee out there -- except maybe those hand-numbered t-shirts at 200 Nipples.

Everyone's a T-shirt Designer in the Future

1 penny earned

As you'll see from the video below, although it might be possible, strike that...It is highly probable that we'll all be designing our own t-shirts in the future, but that doesn't mean we have to be any good at it.

The interface here, using the power of Microsoft's Surface, is amazingly easy. I love how the drag and drop automatically crops to the t-shirt. Beyond that, why not let you choose whether or not you'd like the print to wrap around your t-shirt for an extra fee?

Watching this it's not hard to imagine a future where we "grab" elements from our environment, including inspiration from what others are wearing around us, and create a new t-shirt or wardrobe on our future iPhone that immediately gets produced in an automated factory located halfway around the world but could still be in our hands within half a day.

I've seen the future, and it's going to look very interesting.

Expanding Coupons at Ex-Boyfriend

0 pennies earned

We don't really understand why a t-shirt company would be called ExBoyfriend. Perhaps, since this is really a one-man show, he is just used to getting dumped and decided to pour all of that depression-inducing sadness into silly and irreverent tshirt design.

Anywho, they're offering "all kinds of savings" right now with no word on when these coupons expire:
- Take 10% off any order with coupon code SPRING10
- Take 15% off when you spend $45 or more with coupon code SPRING15
- Take 20% off when you spend $65 or more with coupon code SPRING20
