The Rainy Day Designer Needs Your Vote

0 pennies earned

We recently got a request from one of our readers to help bring awareness to his design at Uneetee. Although Shirts on Sale is not a platform for that kind of dialogue, this sideblog provides an excellent venue for such a conversation. Read Troy's explanation of what he hopes to accomplish with this shirt design and vote if you support his work and/or motives.

Three years ago in high school my teacher told me something I wish I had listened more closely to. He told us, “you might be an artist person and enjoy it very much but you have to realize that not all talented people get paid.” Three years later I am living through that exact scenario.

This is not the life and times of a famous person. This is not the work of a lifetime. This is my realization.  I am just one person trying to have some imprint on life.

Firstly I don't consider myself to be less fortunate. I have lived life to its fullest as we all try. I am a college graduate who can no longer live by the concept of just covering my expenses. Living this way will stress those you love and you will always have something looming over you like bills, but worse then anything is the thought of failing.

From one designer who is struggling to live or rather living to struggle. I want to pass on the advice that no diploma can guarantee your happiness and fulfilling your passion won't always cover your expenses. You have to learn early on that you will have to give and take to survive.

I would like to ask for your help but want people to understand why I need the help. I have entered into the Uneetee.com T-shirt design contest. The grand prize for winning is $1500. I don't want to win just for the money. Yes, it would be a huge relief and help get me off my feet but more than that I want proof that I can succeed as an artist. To know that my work doesn't just get passed over.

I understand as an artist that I haven't reached my full potential yet but I am still young and learning as I go. That is why I need your help most of all. The choices I make now may decide whether I can continue to be an artist or if I have to give in and admit defeat. I am not afraid of losing the contest, but I am afraid of losing faith in myself as an artist.

Please help support me and show the world that even a rainy day designer can see the light of day again.

Thank you,
The Rainy Day Designer
Troy Hyndman

Fan Crazy Dog T-shirts For Free Tees

0 pennies earned

We got a note from Crazy Dog T-shirts (home of a truckload of $9 t-shirts) letting us know that they're giving away free t-shirts to their Facebook fans:

By the way we started a Facebook fan page. We are giving away t-shirts on it and giving out discount codes. There is (sic) going to be trivia and funny stories too....The more fans the more tees we are giving away.
When we surfed by their site, though, we also noticed that they've got a progressive sale going on as well. The more shirts you buy, the more you save -- up to 18% off.

Swing on by if you're looking for some quality TV, movie or pop-culture reference shirts and other funny designs.

Teextile Twitter Contest: Win A Free Shirt!

4 pennies earned

Well, this is a little more convoluted and difficult than our usual contests (and this is not our contest, mind you, but Teextiles!), but the payoff is pretty solid for what could be minimal effort.. you just have to be right!

The details are easy enough, but to successfully complete them is another task entirely. Check it out! (edited for clarity here. Click to see the original newspost.)

weve been neglecting our poor little twitter account for more than a month, so we thought we would start it up again with a way for you to get a free shirt or 5.

all you have to do is follow us on twitter: http://twitter.com/teextile

and guess the next five shirts for next week by posting an update on your twitter account starting with @teextile and followed by the 5 names of the designs you think are going to win (number them if youd like)

sure, 140 characters might not be enough, so feel free to abbreviate. if you guess all 5 designs, you get a free shirt of your choice. and if you guess all 5 designs in the correct order, you get all 5 shirts for free.

here a couple of hints
-we always print at least one design that is only one color
-we always print at least one oversized print
-we never print the 5 all-time most popular, but at least one of the top 3 will be printed

One update a week shouldn't break your Twitterbank, so tweet away -- and if you're just hopping on the Twitter bus, be sure to add us at twitter.com/Shirts_on_Sale!

Best of luck with this one, you'll need it.. but at least they gave a few hints!

JellyFiz Launches New Twist on T-shirt Contest Site

0 pennies earned

Here are the salient details, but read on for the press-released version:
1. JellyFiz prints real shirts (not POD) but won't do it unless you can prove there's an audience -- like the bastard child of Cafepress and Design by Humans.
2. Artists set the price point, but we're a little fuzzy on who sends out the shirt.
3. They're launching November 14th and need artists. Submit four related designs by this date and get 20% off printing and garment costs.

We (JellyFiz) have created a marketplace where people can buy, create and sell their own fashion line with no upfront costs and profit from every sale.

Basically designers can create a small collection using our templates and then list the designs on the "runway". Only designs that collect over 12 pre-orders within a week get manufactured. Shoppers pay sellers directly via PayPal for these items and then sellers work with JellyFiz to manufacture the items within 7-10 business days and ship to customers themselves. Sellers set the price and profit levels. The more you sell of a particular item, the higher the profit levels.

We offer 55 fashion garments to design on and printing techniques like jumbo prints, foil, discharge and water based inks, inside labels, poly bagging etc. All over printing, rhinestones and embroidery are available when designers manufacture the items upfront and then list it within the "instock collection".

We are looking for designers and bands who may be interested in launching their own fashion line and to be part of our official launch. We need the designs submitted by 14th of Nov 2008. There is 20% off printing and garment costs if you submit a collection of 4 designs by this date. ( All designs need to follow a single collection theme).
